Commenting on the draft resolution released into circulation in
the PACE, signed by the deputy of Sweden Goran Lindband and which
considers the events of the government on March 1 as a military coup,
the head of the Armenian delegation to PACE Davit Harutyunyan stated
that the Bureau may accept or reject the decision on the appointment
of a new representative on the project.

He believes that the issue should be discussed in the general context
of monitoring, in addition, "we have too many other problems to
discuss rather than the projects of the Swiss parliamentarian".

He advised to search on the Internet, the words ‘Lindband’ and
‘Karabakh’. ‘I cannot believe Mr. Lindban is objective because of
his previous statements on, say, elections in Azerbaijan, in which
he defends the interests of Azerbaijan’, said Davit Harutyunyan.

Reporters asked how David Harutyunyan evaluates the order of the
ex-Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan on the mobilization on the
eve of March 1

‘Bringing the armed forces in a certain state is associated with
various events,’ said Davit Harutyunyan. ‘In March 2008, there were
clashes at the border between Karabakh and Azerbaijan. Such incidents
occur frequently, and we do not always pay due attention to them,
but the army must always be ready for such events. The order of the
ex-minister fits in this framework, it is difficult to assess. One
thing I can say unequivocally – the army operates on the basis of
different data, and I think it is unacceptable to reveal the causes
for which to bring the army into a state of mobilization ‘, said
Davit Harutyunyan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
