The reason that the US Congress discusses the Armenian Genocide
resolution is not Armenia at all it is Turkey, thinks Richard
Giragosian the director of Armenian Center for National and
International Studies (ACNIS).

"The danger that the US can accept the resolution is connected with
Tukey. It can be observed only in the context of Turkish – American
relations", – the expert mentioned.

According to the speaker, after having the protocols signed Turkey
has started a game with the international community and is trying to
get concessions from Armenia, but this attempt failed.

"The Armenian – Turkish conciliation is the only issue where Russia,
the USA and the European Union do agree with each other. All the
expectations and the demands are connected with Turkey only. Armenia
can’t and shouldn’t do anything. If Turkey misses its chance it will
lose",-he mentioned.

According to R. Giragosian the depression of the superpowers over
Turkey is wrong.

"I think if the Americans, Europeans and the Russian depress Turkey,
it can take a wrong direction and it can become more stubborn. It
is dangerous as Turkey can harm himself in that case. Today we see a
revolution in that country which is concerns its future too; East or
West, Islam or secular country. In this concern we do not know what
will be the future of Turkey", – Richard Giragosian noted.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
