ArmInfo. "It is a consistent policy of the Armenian authorities
to increase gas and water tariffs," Ara Nranyan, a member of
ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party faction in the parliament, said at the
parliamentary briefings on Friday.

He said that increase of tariffs will result in rise of other prices
in the country. "This will again affect the ordinary citizens and
bring benefits to separate persons," Nranyan said. For his part,
Stepan Safaryan, the head of the Heritage opposition party faction,
called the government’s tactics in the given issue inadmissible.

Earlier to today the Public Services Regulatory Commission increased
gas tariff by 37.5% for private consumers to 132 drams per cu m
starting April 1 2010.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
