SECOND SAILING OF “KILIKIA” TO START ON MAY 9
YEREVAN, MARCH 23, NOYAN TAPAN. “Kilikia” sailing vessel, at
present stationed in Venice St.Lazzaro Island, will start its second
four-month sailing on May 9. As Karen Balayan, the Chairman of “Ayas”
club informed Noyan Tapan correspondent, “Kilikia” which was built
similar to the trade ships of the 13th century, will sail along the
Mediterranean Sea to Gibraltar, then will go into the Atlantic Ocean,
and then passing around Portugal, Spain and other European countries
will get to Amsterdam, capital of Holland. According to K.Balayan,
who is also the Captain of “Kilikia”, in 2006 the vessel will be
brought to the Sevan Lake and turned into a museum. RA Government
allocated 32.9 ml dram (about 70 thousand USA dollar) for the sailing
According to K.Balayan, with the help of these means preparation works
will be realized, some equipments, new paddles, food and etc. will
be bought. To recap, that the former navigation of “Kilikia” took
place last year, along the Black, Marmara, Aegean, Crete, Ionian and
Adriatic Seas.
