ArmInfo. Dutch film director Jos Stelling has become the guest of the
Golden Apricot high cinema school. He is supposed to make three short
films in cooperation with three students. The subject is Love and
(Yerevan) City. The lucky ones – the students whose projects have been
selected by Stelling – are Hasmik Hovhannesyan ("Hat"), Marianna
Yeghiazaryan ("Mystery") and Artur Sukiassyan ("Handsome Guy of
Yerevan").
Stelling says that it is funny and interesting to cooperate with young
film makers. He is sure that practice is the main thing in film
making. There are lots of nuances in this business and few young film
makers are aware of them. For example, one must always have something
sweet in the shooting area as sweets stimulate mental activity and
cheer up. One more important nuance is to say "thanks" to actors. A
film director must never shout and must always be in time.
To remind, the Golden Apricot high cinema school was opened in Yerevan
in 2008. Such well-known film makers as Atom Egoyan, Abbas Kiarostami
and Krzysztof Zanussi have given master classes at the school so far.
Over 30 students from Armenia, Georgia, TUrkey, the United States and
Iran have took part in the workshops. Egoyan made 1 short film during
the workshop, Kiarostami – 17 films.
