A governmental committee to organize commemoration events in honour
of the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide met on April 2 in
a session chaired by RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
Committee members once more discussed the list of commemoration
events to be organized this year. Tigran Sargsyan mentioned that the
committee should do its best so that the best ideas and initiatives
on the occasion would be organized properly.
The events will include scientific-educational and cultural events,
publications and re-publications of books, albums in Armenian and
in foreign languages, exhibitions, play performances, marches, and
visits by schoolchildren to the memorial of the Armenian Genocide
Museum-Institute.
State institutions, different NGOs and political institutions also
contributed to realizing these events.
Committee members placed importance on issues related to uniting
Armenian and foreign scientists and lawyers, and holding conferences.
The PM, in turn, said that students studying international law
particularly in the US and Europe, as well as their professors,
must unite. The Luys ("Light") Foundation is expected to actively
participate in organizing all these events.
Also noteworthy is the fact that a number of Harvard University
students have chosen the Armenian Genocide as their thesis topic.
