April 6, RA President Serzh Sargsyan received Prosecutor of
International Criminal Court (ICC) Luis Moreno-Ocampo, who arrived
in Armenia for the 37th Congress of International Federation of
Human Rights.
Welcoming the high-ranking guest, Sargsyan said: "In terms of human
rights protection and condemnation of crimes against humanity the visit
and assistance of experienced people is very critical for Armenia,
particularly the issue of Armenian Genocide – one of the most brutal
crimes committed against humanity recently much spoken about," RA
Presidential Press Service informed NEWS.am.
Moreno-Ocampo outlined that their activities aim at the protection
of human rights and one of its paramount objectives is prevention
genocides in the future.
The officials discussed the possibilities of mutual cooperation,
stressing ICC assistance to Armenia for being more secure.
