STEFAN FULE REITERATES EU’S COMMITMENT FOR ENHANCING RELATIONS WITH ARMENIA

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, NOYAN TAPAN. Commissioner for Enlargement and
European Neighbourhood Policy, Mr Stefan Fule will visit Armenia on
6 April. According to the report of the delegation of the European
Union to Armenia, this is the first visit of Commissioner Fule to
the countries of South Caucasus to reiterate the EU’s commitment for
enhancing the relations with the region within the Eastern Partnership.

Ahead of the visit, Commissioner Fule said, "I welcome the wish by
Armenia to come closer to Europe and reiterate the willingness of
the EU to enhancing the relations with Armenia. The future EU-Armenia
Association agreement will offer political association and economic
integration and thus considerably deepen our relationship in a wide
range of areas. I also express my support for moving ahead on the
Armenian-Turkish normalisation process within reasonable timeframe
and without preconditions. I am looking forward visiting Armenia."

Commissioner Fule’s programme includes meetings with the President
of the Republic Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan,
Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian and Secretary of the
Interdepartmental Commission for the Implementation of the ENP Action
Plan Artur Baghadasarian, as well as the EU Advisory Group. He will
also hold a speech at the Justice Forum of the International Federation
of Human Rights Organisations.
