Obama has called on Turkey and Armenia to stick with their efforts
to normalize relations.

United States President Barack Obama has called on Turkey and Armenia
to stick with their efforts to normalize relations.

Releasing a statement after his meeting with Armenian President Serzh
Sargsian, Obama urged the two countries to take any necessary step
for the parliamentary ratification of two protocols Ankara and Yerevan
signed to resume diplomatic ties and open their border crossing.

The U.S. president is set to hold a bilateral meeting with Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday.

Erdogan and Sargsian met on Monday and they reportedly discussed
issues regarding the rapprochement protocols.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
