Armenian Library Association summed up today the National Library
Week that kicked off April 12.

The director of the National Library David Sargsyan said the library
week is conducted for the ninth time, the theme of the week this year
being "A view to the rural library". According to him, the traditional
event acquires pan-Armenian nature every year.

The goal of the initiative is to give a new meaning to the role of
the book, knowledge, libraries, as well as to draw the attention of
state figures and society to library issues, he highlighted.

"Invaluable is the role of libraries in bringing up literate and
civilized generations, and the National Library Week is a way of
manifestation," D. Sargsyan said.

Meetings with outstanding figures of science, culture and literature,
exhibitions, presentations of books, multi-content library events
were held within the framework of the week, he noted.

The official opening ceremony of the Library Week took place in the
National Library of Armenia and started with prayer and blessing.
