LEO’S 150TH ANNIVERSARY IN ARMENIAN NATIONAL LIBRARY

On April 30 at 14:00 in the session hall of the Armenian National
assembly will be marked Leo’s (Arakel Babakhanyan) 150th anniversary.

Many historians, writers will make speeches, the student’s of the
school after Leo will present performances. There will also be shown
a film telling about Leo’s life and work. In the Library will be
opened the exhibition of his books and the books written by him,
will also be presented books from his own archives.

The Armenian National Library informs that the personal library of
Leo has been moved from Tbilisi to Yerevan in 1940. The collection
includes 6372 units of literature which include books, magazines and
maps. 53 units of books are old, 284 are rarely met literature. The
collection includes the studies of Venetia’s and Vienna’s Mechitarist
Congregation, Congregation of Holly Echmiadzin, publications of the
Armenian scriptures. The picture general picture of Leo’s library
is being completed with the Armenian and foreign literature, first
publications of the East and West Armenian writers’ works. Some of
the books are signed by Ruben Sevak, Toros Toramanyan, Stepan Kanayan,
Smbat Shahaziz, Grigor Artsruni, Gevorg Bashinjaghyan.
