SERZH SARGSYAN: ALEXEY SISAKIAN WAS A SCIENTIST WHO DESERVEDLY ENJOYED INTERNATIONAL FAME

YEREVAN, MAY 3, NOYAN TAPAN. In connection with the death of
Academician Alexey Sisakian – Director of the Joint Institute for
Nuclear Research in Dubna (Russia), Doctor of Mathematical and Physical
Sciences, a member of the Presidency of Russian Academy of Sciences,
the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sent a telegram of condolence
to the family of A. Sisakian. The telegram reads:
"With deep pain, I learned of the death of the prominent scientist
Alexey Sisakian who was a foreign member of the National Academy of
Sciences of Armenia, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
Alexey Sisakian was a scientist who deservedly enjoyed international
fame. A worthy son of the family of scientists founded by Academician
Norayr Sisakian – a merited biochemist, Alexey Sisakian with his
fruitful and fundamental work and his great devotion to science was
a striking example for any young scientist.
The contribution he made as an organizer of scientific activity is
invaluable. His abilities of a skilful organizer were best displayed
during the years when he headed the world-famous Dubna institute.
At this moment of loss, I express my condolences to the family,
relatives and colleagues of the great scientist and worthy son of
the Armenian people Alexey Sisakian".
The famous physicist died from myocardial infarction on May 1. He
was 66.
