‘AZERBAIJAN EXPECTS CONSTRUCTIVE APPROACH FROM ARMENIA IN KARABAKH PROCESS’

Abdullah II, Ilham Aliyev The Karabakh conflict can be solved in
the nearest future provided that Armenia demonstrates a constructive
position.
We try to resolve the Karabakh conflict by peaceful means, negotiate
in a constructive way, and in this regard, we expect the Armenian
side to demonstrate a similar approach,’ Ilham Aliyev said after a
meeting in Baku on Sunday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, according
to a state television.
‘In this case, the Karabakh issue can be solved in the nearest future,’
the statement of the president of Azerbaijan said.
President Aliyev thanked King Abdullah II ‘for an open and unequivocal
position taken by Jordan in the Karabakh settlement". "We are grateful
to you for your support in the UN. It is very important for us’,
Aliyev said.
The head of Azerbaijan considered it important to develop economic
relations with Jordan.
‘I hope that in the coming years we will pay more attention to
economic cooperation between our countries, because we need to do more
things. The representatives of the business circles of our countries
already have preliminary contacts, but I think that we should be use
our potential more’, he said.
President Aliyev said that during talks with Jordan’s King Abdullah
II the sides discussed the practical aspects of economic relations
between the two countries, as well as investment projects.
‘We intend to implement them in the near future,’ he said.
King of Jordan Abdullah II said that he discussed the peaceful
resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian problem .
‘The achievements in our aims to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
based on ‘two states’ is urgent for everything. This should promote
creation of a sovereign and strong Palestinian state in peaceful and
secure coexistence with the Israeli side. It has a special nature for
the solution of the conflict, restoration of stability and security’,
said King.
The contracts between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Hashemite
Kingdom of Jordan also have been signed at the Azerbaijan`s Ministry
of Foreign Affairs on May 17.
Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov of Azerbaijan and Nasser Judeh
of Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding on international
cooperation between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Jordan.
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov and Foreign
Minister of Jordan Nasser Judeh signed an agreement on youth
cooperation between the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sport and
Jordan`s Supreme Youth Council.
