Prevention of genocide discussed at Yerevan intl forum

YEREVAN, April 20 — The problems of preventing genocide are discussed
at a two-day international forum that opened here on Wednesday. The
conference is devoted to the 90th anniversary of the 1915 genocide
of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire. Over 1.5 million Armenians
fell victims of the genocide.
Speaking at the opening of forum that is entitled “Heinous crime,
prime challenge: genocide and human rights” Armenian President Robert
Kocharyan noted that “the world community should intensify efforts
for the effective counteraction to manifestations of genocide.”
