ARARAT MOUNTAIN HAMPERS WAY OF ARMENIAN BRANDY TO TURKISH MARKET
29.04.2005 04:58
/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Court of Intellectual Rights of Ankara rejected the
claim of the Yerevan Brandy Factory against the resolution by the Turkish
Patent Institute banning import of Armenian brandy to the Turkish market,
Yerkir online reported. Its decision the court conditioned by the fact that
`the image of Ararat Mountain printed on the label deludes the consumers’.
According to the Turkish media, the Turkish Patent Institute being `well
aware’ that Armenians have `claims on Ararat Mountain and the territories
adjacent to it’ rejected the Armenian company on the basis of `variance of
the patent request with the state order’. Turkey is afraid that the
consumers of the commodities called `Ararat’ will think that Ararat Mountain
is located in Armenia. Due to the same reason Atom Egoyan’s film entitled
`Ararat’ was not shown in Turkey.
