ANKARA: (AA) – German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said on Wednesday
that any referendum to be held in a EU-member country about the
European Constitution would not affect Turkey’s EU process.

Schroeder, who is currently paying a working visit to Turkey, met
today Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Erdogan expressed his uneasiness
about the recognition of the so-called Armenian genocide by some
European parliaments, without any proper investigation on the issue.

On his part, Chancellor Schroeder highlighted the importance of
economic development in Turkey.
