YEREVAN (YERKIR) – Spencer Wills of the National Geographic Society
has said that the Turkish gene in Turkey is few, Armenpress reported.

Wills has noted that the Turkish gene that has come to Anatolia from
Middle Asia with Seljuks has not widely spread.Commenting on this
statement, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet has mentioned it did not
come as a surprise: most of the Turkish scientists knew that.

Genetically, Turks are very much like the Balkan nations, Armenians,
Arabs but they also have unique structures, a Turkish scholar has
told the newspaper.

Hakan Shatroghlu, an Ankara University professor, has added that
diversity of the Turkish people is natural because Turks, who were
nomads, have migrated from Middle Asia and have assimilated many
other ethnicities maintaining the language and the culture.
