French Armenian famous singer Charles Aznavour is an honored citizen
of Akhaltskha. The chansonnier was given the title during the 30hour
visit in Akhaltskha.
Aznavour was excited by the warm welcome in Georgia and also for
being able to visit Akhaltskha. The famous singer also went to the
part of Akhaltskha where his ancestors used to live. Of course the
house was not preserved. About 100 years ago Aznavour’s family went
from Georgia to Greece. From Greece they went to France where 81
years ago the famous chansonnier was born.
In Akhaltskha Charles Aznavour also visited the local Armenian
school. He will then return to Armenia from where he will leave
for France.
