In absence of stable peace, endeavoring to make constructive steps with regard to Artsakh conflict settlement is not possible via negotiations: Vahram Balayan

Aravot, Armenia

The Deputy Spokesman of the Parliament of the Republic of Artsakh Vahram Balayan, referring to the situation on the border, notes: “Since the August of 2014, the steps undertaken by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan have not been a surprise to us. Their objective is to warn out Armenian forces through creepy war and achieve the result they wish. The latest events evolved on the border are a little part of that all. They show as well that Azerbaijani military-political leadership, targeting its population, turns the residences along the border into artillery stronghold. It is a pity that a child has died, but we do not have an alternative and should show a similar approach, otherwise in case of tolerance, the adversary will act more aggressively.”

Speaking of the fact of a constant weaponry delivery to Azerbaijan by Russia, the deputy spokesman mentions that Azerbaijan continues to get weaponry intensively, but April events showed that even that does not help Azerbaijan to achieve the realization of its objectives. As stated by him, our army has all the opportunities to prevent any aggression manifestation by Azerbaijan.

“I am for the regular bilateral negotiations, inasmuch as in the case of the absence of negotiations military operations are conducted more often. However, seeing Azerbaijan’s maximalist and unrealistic requirements, to hope that a tangible result can be achieved via negotiations… I do not feel sure about it at the moment, anyways”, notes the deputy spokesman and adds that he thinks a moment will come when Azerbaijan will become conscious that the path it has chosen now, will not give it anything.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
