ArmInfo.Treasure seekers destroyed and plundered three ancient tombs located within the administrative boundaries of the Dzoragyugh community of Gegharkunik region. This was reported by SNCO "Monument Protection Service" on its Facebook page.
The tombs are located about 2 km west of the Dzoragyugh community, in the protection zone of the monument of republican significance . Unknown persons, in search of treasure, destroyed and plundered the tombs. The relevant department of the regional department of the SNCO was informed about this fact.
Earlier, experts have repeatedly pointed out that in Armenia "black archeologists" continue to cause serious damage to cultural and historical monuments in search of artifacts. In solving the problem of treasure hunters, experts pin their hopes on amendments to the law on the protection and use of monuments of history and culture, which from the beginning of the year go through a stage of expert discussions.
