The process of international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh and condemnation of the aggression of Azerbaijan and Turkey continues in recent months.
However, there is one aspect that attracts attention. The texts of Resolutions or Appeals diminish the qualifications and level of illegal acts of Azerbaijan (and Turkey). For example, it is often said about the threats of ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan against the peaceful Armenian population. Although since September 27, 2020, ethnic cleansing has been carried out as do constitute a fact.
According to Wikipeadia, Ethnic cleansing is the systematic forced removal or extermination of ethnic, racial and/or religious groups from a given area, often with the intent of making a region ethnically homogeneous. Along with direct removal (deportation, population transfer), it also includes indirect methods aimed at coercing the victim group to flee and preventing its return, such as murder, rape, and property destruction… Ethnic cleansing is usually accompanied by efforts to remove physical and cultural evidence of the targeted group in the territory through the destruction of homes, social centers, farms, and infrastructure, as well as through the desecration of monuments, cemeteries, and places of worship.
All the criteria for the definition of the term ethnic cleansing take place in the crimes committed by Azerbaijan.
In January 2021, the authorities of Azerbaijan publicly and proudly admitted to ethnic cleansing themselves – they issued a huge circulation of stamps and envelopes depicting the ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population of Karabakh – see the picture.
Even during the treacherous aggression on October 24, Foreign Minister Z. Mnatsakanyan said: “As a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, about 90 thousand Artsakh people became internally displaced persons and lost their homes and property.” Before and after the November 9 agreement, even more civilians were forced to flee their homes. In a letter from the congressmen dated February 3, 2021, it was said that “more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians to flee from the Karabakh region.”
Tens of thousands of people were driven out by the treacherous terrorist war of Azerbaijan, Turkey and jihadists. Isn’t this ethnic cleansing?
Back in 1993, D. Einber and C. Cox published the book “Ethnic Cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh”. Thirty years later, these authors may continue this book under the same title.

In the past, there were also Azerbaijani refugees. But their number was overstated many times over and they were not driven out by special policy or force. In Armenia, in 1990, they sold their houses and left. Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh did not attack Azerbaijan. It is the authorities of Azerbaijan, continuing the genocidal policy and crimes of genocide in 1918-1920,… and later in 1987, 1988-1991, expelled hundreds of thousands of peaceful Armenians from Azerbaijan with bestial cruelty, and later they themselves unleashed a war against Nagorno-Karabakh. The exodus of Azerbaijanis from a number of districts of Artsakh was the result of the genocidal aggression of Azerbaijan itself. Nowadays, the Azerbaijani authorities continue their genocidal policy in various forms against the Talysh and other autochthonous peoples of the country.
