Azeri soldiers open fire in Armenia’s Gegharkunik border sector, apologize for the incident – Armenia MOD

Armenia’s Ministry of Defense has reported about incident in Armenia’s Gegharkunik province's border sector on May 20 with the participation of the Azeri militaries who entered the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

“At approximately 3pm few tens of shots were fired, supposedly into the air, after which the Armenian sub-divisions opened warning fire. The commander of the Azerbaijani servicemen contacted with the commander of the Armenian sub-division, requested to stop the fire, apologized and said that the shots were fired accidentally,” Armenia MOD said in the statement.

The ministry stressed that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia warn that the repetition of suchlike incidents will be viewed as intentional attempt of going to confrontation and will result in relevant actions by the Armenian side.
