The political parties of Armenia declined to comment on the OSCE Minsk
Group visit to the region. During the May 26 briefings the
parliamentary groups and factions uttered some broken phrases
only. The leader of Ardarutiun Alliance Stepan Demirchyan announced
that the peace process is growing serious.

Stepan Demirchyan did not go into detail, however, saying he did not
have enough information. The leader of Dashnaktsutiun Faction Hrair
Karapetyan and the leader of the Republican faction Galust Sahakyan
also underlined the relation of the visit of the OSCE mission and the
peace process. Hrair Karapetyan said there will not be an imposed
settlement, saying that no settlements were imposed on other conflicts
in the world. The leader of Dashnaktsutiun faction pointed to the
referendum in Montenegro and the possible settlement of the issue of
Kosovo.

`If a nation makes a decision, the world respects this decision,’
announced Hrair Karapetyan. His Republican colleague Galust Sahakyan
spoke about the peace process, which is growing serious, relying on
his own analysis. Hence, according to him, the Karabakh issue will not
be settled in 2006.
