YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 6, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. Turkey condemned
on September 5 the report adopted on the previous day by the European
Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, in which it is particularly
said that "Ankara’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide must be a
precondition for Turkey’s membership to the European Union." Radio
Liberty states about it. "We are desperate from efforts of imposing
non-objective preconditions on issues demanding a serious scientific
study. Some elements of the report written for political reasons are
incoferent for such an authoritative organization of the European
Parliament," according to Francepress, it’s said in the statement
spread by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
