YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS: A senior official of the Armenian
state taxation service and his relative were formally indicted by
Armenian prosecutors for planning and killing a colleague on September
6 morning in central Yerevan.

The office of prosecutor general said Armen Virabian and a relative,
G. Virabian, were formally charged on September 16 for killing Shahen
Hovasapian, who headed the investigation department at the taxation
service. The prosecutors said they have collected ample evidence to
charge both with the murder.

Shahen Hovasapian, a former head of the taxation service department
in charge of investigating tax evasion, was killed on September 6 in
a car explosion in central Yerevan.

The blast was caused by a explosive device planted under the car’s
front passenger seat occupied by Hovasapian. His driver and son were
not hurt.
