ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT RATIFIES ARMENIAN-GEORGIAN INTER-GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT OF COOPERATION IN EXPOSURE AND RETURN OF HIJACKED VEHICLES

Armenian parliament ratified Armenian-Georgian inter-governmental
agreement of cooperation in exposure and return of hijacked vehicles.
Deputy Head of the Armenian Police, Ararat Mahtesyan, said the
agreement provides for activation of bilateral cooperation in the
exposure, confiscation and return of hijacked vehicles to their
owners. The problem is prevention of such phenomena. During 2006,
35,000 motor vehicles were inspected in Armenia, and 175 hijacked
cars were exposed. 106 of 175 were acquired and imported to Armenia
from Georgia. The Georgian party has not ratified the agreement yet.
