THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA PARTICIPATES IN THE REGIONAL MEETING OF WCC
The World Council of Churches held its regional meeting for the Middle East
in Cairo on November 27-30.
Bishop Nareg Alemezian (Ecumenical Officer of the Catholicosate of Cilicia
and member of the WCC Central Committee) and Ms. Carla Khijoyan represented
the Catholicosate of Cilicia in the meeting. Ms. Teny Simonian was also
present as a representative of the WCC.
Ms. Simonian talked about the projects to be implemented in the Middle East
during the next few years.
The meeting examined the WCC projects, highlighting the most important areas
of work in the Middle East. Participants also discussed the difficulties
churches in the region face and their contribution to the establishment of
peace and justice especially in the current situation in the region.
