I AM HAPPY THAT FOREIGNERS HIGHLY ESTIMATE MY PERFORMANCE, SILVA HAKOBIAN SAYS

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 14, NOYAN TAPAN. "I do not believe yet that I was
awarded with the BBC first prize, but I am glad that foreigners highly
estimated my performance." Silva Hakobian, who won the "The world’s
young band" first prize in the Next Big Thing competition announced
by the BBS, stated about it at the December 14 press conference. The
first-year student of the Yerevan State Jazz College participated in
the competition with performance of the "I Like" song the author of
which is the singer’s sister Mane, and instrumented by her brother
Edgar. Singer’s producer, composer Aram Avagian mentioned that more
than 2000 works were presented to the competition. The organizers
chose only 20 of them. Then S.Hakobian was involved in the best seven
by the open internet votion. "It was already a victory to be in the
20, but when they stated that Silva won the first prize, we were
surprised," A.Avagian said. Young singers from England, U.S., Brazil,
Ghana, Malawi took part in the competition. In A.Avagian’s words,
the competition jury members mentioned that Silva, with her talent,
may conquer international stages. Some of them expressed wish to
cooperate with the young singer. A.Avagian also informed that the
video clip of the "I like" song as well as S.Hakobian’s first disk
will be presented to the spectators soon.
