Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs likely to meet in January

The Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers are likely to meet in
Moscow in January to discuss settlement of the Karabakh conflict,
Itar-Tass learned at the embassies of the two countries on Wednesday.

The Armenian delegation “intends to adhere to its former line,” the
embassy noted. “Our principled stand is that the people of Karabakh
should be given the opportunity for self-determination on the basis
of international law,” an embassy official said. “Armenia pursues
the same goal as the Minsk group of the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe under whose auspices the question is being
tackled, namely, promoting the early solution of the problem in
accordance with the norms of international law,” he said.

The Azerbaijani embassy has merely confirmed that the Moscow meeting,
scheduled for January 23, was being prepared.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
