VIMPELCOM TO CONSTRUCT NGN NET IN ARMENIA BY THE END 2007
Vimpelcom – as a convergent solution, plans to set out construction of
NGN net in Armenia in the 2nd half of 2007, Alexander Izosimov,
General Director of Vimpelcom, told journalists in Barcelona.
"We’ve bought ‘ArmenTel’ company which had the fixed-line telephony to
find out whether we would participate in this business in future or
not," he said. A. Izosimov pointed out that Vimpelcom is getting
ready for the construction works and negotiations with facility and
billing providers.
He said that there would be no need for additional investments into
the project. The two stockholders of Vimpelcom agree with the plans
and there are no major disagreements between them. A. Izosimov pointed
out that Vimpelcom will set out NGN net and convergent solutions with
its own resources. He admitted the possibility of consultations with
Golden Telecom and Telenor. It is planed that NGN net will be
constructed by the end of 2007.
