NA IN FIRST READING ADOPTS PACKAGE OF MAKING AMENDMENTS AND ADDITIONS TO LAW "ON RA CITIZENSHIP"

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, NOYAN TAPAN. At the February 20 special sitting
RA National Assembly in first reading adopted the legislative package
discussed at the previous four-day session, according to which
amendments and additions are envisaged to laws "On RA Citizenship,"
"On Compulsory Military Service," to the Electoral Code, Code of
Administrative Violations and Criminal Code.
The package, in particular, stipulates provisions connected with
dual citizenship.
The parliamentary opposition did not take part in the voting and
ULP faction voted against it. The latter conditioned its position by
disregard of prohibition of appointing dual citizens to ministers’
post being an issue of principle for it.
