Intl mediators may find solution to Karabakh conflict – Lavrov
Berlin
International mediators may find a solution to the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated here on
Thursday.
“It’s a very sensitive issue and the role of mediators who
permanently work together with the parties, is to help Baku and
Yerevan reach the accords which would enjoy broad support in both
Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Lavrov said.
“The opportunities for it are available. We’re hoping that while
preserving the sensitive nature of all this work, and carefully
treating all its aspects – which are not easy – we’ll be able to lead
the parties to the decisions comfortable to each of them,” the
diplomat said.
“Russia and Germany wish to cooperate in establishing a lasting
peace in the Caucasus. In this connection, I’d find it interesting
and useful to hear the opinions of my German colleague about his
visit to the region,” he said.
