The chairman of the Board of the Armenian National Movement Ararat
Zurabian expressed confidence in a talk with journalists that the
first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosian will participate in the
coming Presidential elections in February, 2008.

He underlined that the confidence he expressed is a reflection of his
personal opinion, while "the official statement can be made only by L.
Ter-Petrosian himself or by his office". In the opinion of the present
leader of ANM, the first President is able to change the situation in
the Republic, the political field of which is in a paralyzed state. To
note, the present leaders of the Armenian National Movement had
expressed confidence even before the Presidential elections in 2003,
that the ex-President would participate in the election campaign,
however, Levon Ter-Petrosian did not do it and did not comment on the
assumptions spread.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
