YEREVAN, MAY 8, NOYAN TAPAN. The election campaign proceeding for
the past month revealed ideological bankruptcy of both opposition
and pro-governmental camps. David Hakobian, Chairman of Marxist
Party of Armenia, reported at the May 8 press conference. In his
words, political forces in tactical respect suffer from "Machiavelli
syndrome:" "everything only for victory: compromising, tactical tricks
and various methods of discreditation."
In D. Hakobian’s opinion, the people is in a hard psychical and moral
condition and voter buying is not the consequence of social crisis
at all.
According to his commentary, as over the past 15 years politicians are
engaged in "political business" and not in politics, so the people
considers it expedient to sell its vote. So, the financial capital
is brought to the foreground and the ideological capital to the
background. "It is impossible to continue this way," D. Hakobian said.
In his words, their entrance to the parliament is a "historic
necessity," otherwise he will not be engaged in politics, as not to
be appreciated is disappointing.
