Withdrawal of Russian mil equipment from Batumi planned for May 15.

TBILISI, May 11 (Itar-Tass) – Withdrawal of Russian military
equipment, arms and property by a train from Batumi is planned for
May 15, the commander of Russian troops in the Trans-Caucasian
region, Andrei Popov, told Itar-Tass on Friday.

The train will head for Russia via Azerbaijan, he said.

Eleven railway trains will carry equipment and property from the
Batumi base to Russia during this year, and the other part of
property and equipment will be carried by four trains to Armenia, to
the Russian base in Gyumri.

All the issues connected with withdrawal from Batumi are settled with
the Georgian side, the commander said.

Withdrawal of the Russian military bases from Batumi must be
completed by October 1, 2008 and from Akhalkalaki by July 1, this
year, in accordance with Russian-Georgian agreements.
