By the end of 2007 Armenia can receive about $12 million from the
United States in the framework of the Millennium Challenge Program,
Chief Executive Secretary of the Millennium Challenge Account-Armenia
Ara Hovsepyan reported today.
In his words, the schedule of allocations will not change, which is
conditioned by the successful parliamentary elections held in the
country. `We have not received any notification about the
falsification of the elections, he noted, adding that the success of
the elections is one of the 16 conditions of the program’s
accomplishment.
Ara Hovsepyan noted that at the given point Armenia has already
received $3,845 million and 8-9 million is planned to be provided by
the end of 2007. ` The schedule of the Millennium Challenge Compact
envisages that 12 millions will provided in the first year, 60 million
`in the second, 70 million `in the thirty, after which the annual
allocations will decrease,’ the Chief Executive Secretary noted.
Let us remind that the Millennium Challenge Program was launched on
September 29, 2006.
