World-Famous Opera Singer Gohar Gasparian Passes Away

WORLD-FAMOUS OPERA SINGER GOHAR GASPARIAN PASSES AWAY

YEREVAN, MAY 17, NOYAN TAPAN. "Armenian nightingale" Gohar Gasparian,
the greatest master of the Armenian opera art, USSR People’s Artist,
Socialist Work Hero, Mesrop Mashtots order-bearer, Yerevan Conservatory
professor, passed away at the age of 83, on May 16. Noyan Tapan was
informed about it by the RA Ministry of Culture and Youth Issues.

G. Gasparian was born in Cairo in 1924. She studied at the local
Music Academy. She repatriated in 1948. She performed with main parts
in 23 operas at the Opera and Ballet National Academic Theater of
Armenia since 1949, and more than 500 works were involved in her
concert repertoire.
