Yerevan, May 17. /Mediamax/. "New Times" party does not recognize the
results of the parliamentary elections of May 12 and plans to appeal
them in the Constitutional Court of Armenia, leader of the party Aram
Karapetian stated in Yerevan today.
Mediamax reports that Aram Karapetian stated that "mass bribery
of electors, use of 407 thousand false passports, and distortion of
results of voting by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) took place"
during the elections.
According to him, the votes, received by the "New Times" party,
were underestimated by the CEC for 10%.
According to the preliminary results of the elections, the "New Times"
party received 47.018 votes /about 3,4%/.
Leader of the "New Times" party stated today that in the nearest future
the Armenian subdivisions will be withdrawn from the regions around
Nagorno-Karabakh, occupied till ceasefire in 1994. According to him,
their place will be occupied by the international peacekeepers.
"The positive conclusion of the international observers following
the results of the parliamentary elections in Armenia is related to
the concession of the Armenian authorities on withdrawal of forces",
he stated.
