YEREVAN, MAY 18, NOYAN TAPAN. "I am sure that the next President
of the country will be a party representative, as development of
political processes evidently prompts the very thing," NA Speaker,
Vice-Chairman of Republican Party of Armenia, Tigran Torosian said
on May 18 at Tesaket club.

In his words, this is conditioned by constitutional amendments,
rise of role of parties in the political life, as well as by the
circumstance that a candidate for presidency should enjoy confidence
of not only the public, but also of political forces.

In connection with discontent of political forces defeated in the
parliamentary elections T. Torosian expressed an opinion that this is
conditioned by non-fulfilment of promises given in the pre-electoral
period and "is rather a justification than an unbiassed evaluation
to the process of elections." He also said that it will be right
for each political force first of all to look for the reason of its
failure in its policy adopted in the recent years.

In response to all questions of journalists about pretenders to ruling
posts in the National Assembly of fourth convocation and new staff of
government T. Torosian said that it will be possible to speak about
this in 7-10 days when the political discussions are over. At the same
time, he said that RPA having absolute majority in the parliament
would like to cooperate with another parliamentary forces and this
cooperation should not be coalition without fail. In T. Torosian’s
words, the way, format of cooperation and the number of participants
will be specified in the future.
