Azerbaijan plans to acquire refinery in Europe

BAKU. May 18 (Interfax) – The Azeri government plans to acquire an oil
refinery in Europe, Azeri Industry and Energy Minister Natik Aliyev
said.

"Azerbaijan in the near future is preparing to acquire shares in one
of the oil refineries in Europe," he said at a meeting with Mihail
Lupoi, deputy chairman of the NATO parliamentary assembly in Baku on
Thursday. The Azeri parliamentary press service told Interfax that
Aliyev also confirmed Azerbaijan’s plans to build an oil refinery in
Ceyhan.

In turn, Lupoi, who is also the head of the Romanian delegation in the
NATO parliamentary assembly, said that a group of Romanian experts
would travel to Baku next week to discuss the acquisition by
Azerbaijan of shares in a refinery in Europe. rd
