ARMENIAN GDP GROWS BY 11.1% IN JANUARY-APRIL 2007 ON SAME MONTHS OF LAST YEAR

YEREVAN, MAY 21, NOYAN TAPAN. In January-April 2007, Armenian GDP grew
by 11.1% on the same months of last year and made 477 bln 982.4 mln
drams (about 1 bln 329 mln USD). The GDP index-deflator made 103.8%.
According to the RA National Statistical Service, in January-April
2007, industrial production grew by 1.7% on the same period of last
year and made 208 bln 502.1 mln drams, industrial production without
diamond production grew by 7.8% and made 206 bln 897.3 mln drams.
The gross agricultural output increased by 0.7% to 62 bln 877.6 mln
drams, construction – by 6.4% to 55 bln 215 mln drams, trade turnover
– by 11.9% to 227 bln 614.7 mln drams, while the amount of provided
services grew by 16% to 156 bln 400.7 mln drams.
The foreign trade of Armenia grew by 42.2% in January-April 2007 on
the same months of 2006 and amounted to 1 bln 193.6 mln USD. Exports
increased by 27.1% to 323.1 mln USD, imports – by 48.8% to 870.5 mln
USD. Foreign trade without diamond trade grew by 55% to 1 bln 84.1 mln
USD, exports – by 44.4% to 269.9 mln USD, imports increased by 58.9%
to 814.5 mln USD.
Consumer prices increased by 4.7% in January-April 2007 on
January-April 2006, while industrial production prices – by 1.3%.
Monetary incomes of the population grew by 24.7% in January-April 2007
on the same period of last year and made 528 bln 985.6 mln drams, while
expenditures grew by 22.4% to 527 bln 293.1 mln drams. The average
monthly nominal salary made 70.214 thousand drams (18.3% growth),
including salary of employees of budgetary institutiins – 51.512
thousand drams (15.5% growth) and salary of employees of non-budgetary
institutions – 87.780 thousand drams (20.1% growth). The average
exchange rate of one US dollar made 359.75 drams in January-April
2007 and 416.04 drams in 2006.
As of late April 2007, the number of the unemployed registered in
Armenia made 86.3 thousand, declining by 5.4% compared with the
respective index of last year.
