YEREVAN, MAY 25, NOYAN TAPAN. 55 thousand graduates of schools of
Armenia will pass on June 1 the joint exam on the "Armenian Language
and Literature" subject. They who will appeal to an institution
of higher education where the Armenian language is a competitive
subject, will pass the exam by the joint variant, and ones for who
that subject is only for the school-leaving certificate will pass
the exam at their schools. Bagrat Yesayan, the RA Deputy Minister of
Education and Science stated about it at the Hayeli club on May 24.

The Deputy Minister also spoke about the innovations implemented in the
education sphere, particularly about the misunderstandings connected
with the tasks on literature. In his words, the school-leaving exam
will be held by the A variant which will involve 50 tasks, 15 of which
are on the literature. One common mark will be in the school-leaving
certificate for the Armenian language and literature exams. And 75
tasks are envisaged for ones passing the entrance exam. In this case,
the competition estimate will be formed of only the Armenian language
subject.

B. Yesayan also stated that exams on natural sciencies will also
be held by the joint examination system the next year. Armenia will
completely pass to that type of exam in 2 years.

"We shall organize an extremely transparent exam, starting from
opening the boxes up to all other processes. We shall make mass media
participants of all these," the Deputy Minister assured. As for the
appeal of marks, B. Yesayan mentiond that there is no tradition of
appeal in test system of exams in the absolute majority of countries
of the world, but "as the Armenian people is used not to trust,
we shall place xeroxes in examination halls for the school-leaver
copies form of his work."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
