SEN AREVSHATIAN NOT TO HEAD MATENADARAN ANY LONGER, BUT TO CONTINUE WORK THERE AS MANAGEMENT COUNCIL CHAIRMAN

YEREVAN, MAY 25, NOYAN TAPAN. Director of the Mesrop Mashtots
Matenadaran (repository of ancient manuscripts), academician Sen
Arevshatian resigned his commission of heading the Institute of old
manuscripts any longer. RA Minister of Education and Science Levon
Mkrtchian and the Matenadaran collective sent Sen Arevshatian to
the acquired rest after 25-year work, with words of appreciation and
warm wishes.
Minister Levon Mkrtchian informed those present that on the occasion
of retiring, Sen Arevshatian will not head the Institute of old
manuscripts any longer, but will continue working in Matenadaran as
the Management Council Chairman. "Sen Arevshatian devoted scientist
and intellectual brought 1000 manuscripts to Matenadaran during 25
working years," the Minister emphasized.
To recap, an Acting Director of Matenadaran will be appointed during
one-week period of time, and a council will be formed by the Ministry
of Education and Science which will organize secret elections within
one-month term.
Sen Arevshatian mentioned that his Deputy Arshak Banuchian will
probably be appointed as the Acting Director, and he sees specialist
on Narek, poet Hrachia Tamrazian on the Director’s post.
To recap, at the end of the event the academician was given a gold
memory medal, the highest prize of the RA Ministry of Education
and Science.
