PLACEMENT AND REDEMPTION OF STATE SECURITIES GROWS BY 5.5 BILLION DRAMS IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2007 ON SAME PERIOD OF LAST YEAR

YEREVAN, MAY 25, NOYAN TAPAN. In the first quarter of 2007, the
system on registration and calculation of state securities formed 517
recommendations of the total amount of 21 bln 740 mln drams (over
60.4 mln USD) with the aim of primary placement and redemption of
state securities, which is more by 5.5 bln drams than in the first
quarter of 2006.

According to data of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), banks
transferred 9 bln 116 mln drams for state bonds acquired during
primary placement, while the Treasury transferred 12 bln 624 mln
drams for redemption of state securities, including transfers of
760 mln drams for state securities from the treasury reserve system,
189 mln drams of which were payments for placement of securities and
571 mln drams – payments for redemption of securities.

369 recommendations of the total amount of 61 bln 851 mln drams
for primary placement and redemption of own securities at the CBA
were formed by the system of registration and calculation of state
securities. Transfers of 37 bln 182 mln drams were made for CBA state
bonds acquired by commercial banks during primary placement of the
indicated securities, transfers of 24 bln 669 mln drams were made
for redemption of CBA own securities.
