YEREVAN, MAY 29, NOYAN TAPAN. Violations against People’s Party
of Armenia (PPA) are continuing after the elections. The party’s
spokeswoman Ruzan Khachatrian made this statement on May 29. Speaking
about the attempt to set to fire the apartment of Larisa Paramuzian,
secretary of the PPA Alaverdi territorial organization, she said that
many PPA representatives disputed election results in the prosecutor’s
office, and the authorities are trying to make them withdraw their
complaints by intimidating them.

According to R. Khachatrian, in connection with the parliamentary
elections, the authorities are discrediting PPA, they are even
spreading rumors that agreements have been allegedly reached between
the authorities and their party.

Noting that the aim of the authorituies is to split PPA and drive
it from the political field, she called on the oppositioon forces
"not to be involved in this dirty games".

She said the party decided not to apply to the RA Constitutional Court
with the aim of disputing the election results – PPA will provide
all facts it has to "Impeachment" bloc. R. Khachatrian pointed out
that PPA will assist "Impeachment" in the issue of appealing to the
RA Cosntitutional Court.

According to PPA spokeswoman, the further actions of PPA will depend
on the decision of the Constitutional Court and the public’s attitide
to it. In her words, in any case the political activity will be high
in 2007 because of the upcoming presidential elections. "All that
is happening now in Armenia is aimed at presidential elections:
there are people who see only the presidential chair and they are
not interested in anything else," she said.
