International community expects serious shift from Yerevan and Baku
in Nagorno Karabakh issue

The document being discussed in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict
settlement process gives a serious opportunity to come to an
agreement, UK Special Representative for the South Caucasus Brian
Fall said at a meeting with head of the Armenian mission in NATO,
Ambassador Samvel Lazarian.

As REGNUM was told at the Armenian foreign ministry, citing a
statement by G8 foreign minister in St. Petersburg on May 30, Fall
stressed that the international community was expecting a serious
shift from Armenia and Azerbaijan in the negotiation process.

Brian Fall also expressed confidence that settlement of the Nagorno
Karabakh conflict will promote forming South Caucasus as a single
political actor and encourage progress of its single economy.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
