V. OSKANIAN: BSEC CAN BE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE FOR REGIONAL STABILITY

ISTANBUL, JUNE 25, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. The 15th Summit
of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization presided over by
Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer starts at the Ciragan Palace of
Istanbul today.

Presidents of the BSEC member and observer states and government
members will take part in the Summit. Armenia is represented by RA
Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian.

According to the Milliyet daily, the sitting of BSEC member-states’
Foreign Ministers has already started. RA Foreign Minister Vardan
Oskanian has given a speech at the sitting. The Foreign Minister
said that he believes that BSEC can be of great importance not
only for economic activity, but also for regional stability and
prosperity. "Everything can be changed except geography. The Black
Sea has united us for many centuries. We have again met and thanks to
it we should highly evaluate this occasion," the Foreign Minister said.
