ARMAVIR, JULY 10, ARMENPRESS: Farmers in Armavir province expect high
yield this year from their wheat fields. Arthur Ayvazyan, head of
agricultural and environmental department at the regional governor’s
office, said the average yield from a hectare is expected to be about
3,500 kg despite damages caused by recent strong winds.

Low prices of wheat earlier this year forced many local farmers
to reduce the land areas under crop, which have dwindled by 40
percent. Overall some 8,000 hectares of land in the province are
under wheat.

The price of one kg of wheat at domestic market is now 100 Dram,
up 20 drams from a year ago.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
