TIGRAN TOROSYAN: INTERNATIONAL STRUCTURES DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE ELECTIONS IN NKR, BUT MEET WITH ELECTED AUTHORITIES

Speaker of RA National Assembly Tigran Torosayn said at a press
conference today that the non-positive attitude and assessment of
the forthcoming presidential elections in NKR by international
organizations is quite normal and understandable. The Speaker
explains such attitude with the fact that "international structures
do not recognize the elections of the NKR President, therefore,
they previously declare about it."
"This can be probably understood: if they don’t recognize a
state, they must have an attitude towards the formation of state
institutions. If there is a policy of not recognizing the elections
in unrecognized states, why should they recognize those in Nagorno
Karabakh?" Tigran Torosyan said. Although the international structures
do not recognize the results of the elections in Nagorno Karabakh,
"their representatives meet with the authorities elected through
these elections," the Speaker noted.
"Under these circumstances one can ask: if you do not recognize the
choice of NKR people, then why do you meet with the authorities formed
through the choice of people," he remarked.
Simultaneously, the NA Speaker said the attitude of the international
organizations towards the elections in Karabakh have nothing to do
with the conflict settlement process.
