/PanARMENIAN.Net/ People of Nagorno Karabakh are important to recognize
the results of presidential elections, Grigori Marakutsa, Secretary
General of Intergovernmental Assembly "For Democracy and Nations’
Rights" stated commenting on the refusal of the international community
to recognize elections in unrecognized republics.

He said, "for some reasons nobody has even thought to send observers
or put a question on recognizing or not recognizing elections in
Great Britain or Germany.

"Why we must abase ourselves for the necessity of that recognition,"
he underlined adding that the "international community has set up
a certain protectorate over us, wants to spread its democracy and
evaluate if elections are carried out well".

In this respect Marakutsa noticed the Electoral Code and the process
itself in the post-Soviet countries is much more democratic than in
West, since legislation of some western countries excludes existence
of international observers and it’s out of question to allow proxies
of candidates to be present during count of votes. "There are no other
fairer elections in the world than we have," he concluded. He also
said, in the result of NKR elections the Intergovernmental Assembly
"For Democracy and Nations’ Rights" will make a joint statement. The
protocol will also be announced for the international community to be
informed on how much democratic were elections in Nagorno Karabakh,
IA Regnum reports.

Unrecognized states of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transdnestria are
members of Intergovernmental Assembly "For Democracy and Nations’
Rights". Nagorno Karabakh has observer status in this structure. The
Intergovernmental Assembly decided to carry out observation mission
in NKR during its 4th session in Sukhumi June 24, 2007.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
